A bar manager has been charged with dealing drugs in Texas. The man accused of drug crimes is said to have been dealing cocaine, Ecstasy, Adderall and Xanax. His arrest took place on a recent Saturday.
Authorities said they received tips indicating that the bar manager was allowing drugs onto his property. Officers with the state’s alcoholic beverage commission, along with search dogs, went to the bar and found what they deemed to be probable cause to look through the manager’s motor vehicle. At that point, they executed a search warrant on the manager’s automobile.
In the motor vehicle, authorities reportedly found two pounds of the drug Xanax. They also allegedly discovered smaller amounts of cocaine, Adderall and Ecstasy. The manager is now charged with four felonies in the first degree for delivering controlled substances. He was placed in jail on a bond of $20,000, and he faces at least 99 years in prison if convicted.
Individuals in Texas who are accused of drug crimes have the right to go to trial to fight these charges in an effort to protect their reputations and their freedom. However, in some situations, the weight of the evidence that the prosecution plans to present at trial to support its allegations suggests the need to pursue plea deal negotiations. After all, a plea agreement may result in lesser crimes and thus a lighter sentence than what would result from trial following a guilty verdict. An attorney will push for the best outcome for the defendant in either situation given the circumstances surrounding his or her criminal case.
