Crashes can happen at any time of the day or night for a variety of reasons, from poor weather conditions to an inattentive driver. Unfortunately, people in Texas are often quick to make assumptions about the cause of an accident that happens at a certain time of day, such as during the early morning hours. In fact, a young man now faces a DWI charge following an accident that left him in the hospital.
The accident apparently happened around 4 a.m. on a day in November. Passersby were reportedly able to extricate the driver following the single vehicle crash. A cell phone video allegedly shows two men pulling the driver from the car as flames became larger.
The video is said to show one of the men asking the driver if he is drunk or if he had been drinking. The man, reportedly moaning in pain at the time, is said to have said yes. The injured driver is being treated at the hospital and is charged with driving while intoxicated.
Anyone who has experienced an injury resulting in a significant amount of pain is likely aware of the aftermath. Often such a person could respond to a question without fully understanding what is being asked. Beyond the cell phone footage, it is unclear what supports the DWI charge against the young man. Most people in Texas facing such charges want someone who will aggressively work on their behalf while ensuring that their clients are able to make informed decisions about the direction of their case.
